PDF find and replace

Find and replace text in a PDF

CrabPDF includes a find and replace panel that searches detected text items and lets you replace single occurrences or all matches locally in your browser.

How to use find and replace

Upload a PDF and open the Search tool from the right sidebar.

Type the text you want to find.

Review all occurrences grouped by page.

Click a result to scroll to it in the document.

Replace a single match or replace all matches at once.

Current limitations

Search works on detected text items — not raw PDF binary content.

Phrases split across multiple PDF text fragments may not match perfectly.

Replace all is simple and may be slower on very large documents.

Private by design

All search and replace operations run locally in your browser. Nothing is sent to a server. After the site has loaded, you can turn off Wi-Fi and continue working.

CrabPDF is experimental. Always verify important documents after editing.
